"I’m sorry but I don’t want to be an Emperor – that’s not my business – I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another, human beings are like that.
 We all want to live by each other’s happiness, not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone and the earth is rich and can provide for everyone.
 

The way of life can be free and beautiful.

 But we have lost the way.

 Greed has poisoned men’s souls – has barricaded the world with hate; has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed.
 

We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in: machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little: More than machinery we need humanity; More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.

The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men, cries out for universal brotherhood for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world, millions of despairing men, women and little children, victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people. To those who can hear me I say “Do not despair”.

The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress: the hate of men will pass and dictators die and the power they took from the people, will return to the people and so long as men die [now] liberty will never perish…

Soldiers – don’t give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you and enslave you – who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel, who drill you, diet you, treat you as cattle, as cannon fodder.

Don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men, machine men, with machine minds and machine hearts. You are not machines. You are not cattle. You are men. You have the love of humanity in your hearts. You don’t hate – only the unloved hate. Only the unloved and the unnatural. Soldiers – don’t fight for slavery, fight for liberty.

In the seventeenth chapter of Saint Luke it is written ” the kingdom of God is within man ” – not one man, nor a group of men – but in all men – in you, the people.

You the people have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness. You the people have the power to make life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure. Then in the name of democracy let’s use that power – let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work, that will give you the future and old age and security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power, but they lie. They do not fulfil their promise, they never will. Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people. Now let us fight to fulfil that promise. Let us fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers, do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness.

Philosophic Thoughts

 Every new year is a new book full of 365 blank pages for you to write your own story. And who knows? Maybe make some history. Maybe this year is a beginning of a whole new journey.
 Or maybe not. We'll never know.
 Do you believe in faith? Do you believe your path has already been written? Do you believe in destiny? That everything happens for a reason and we shouldn't question it?
 Don't. Just don't.
 The real beauty of life is in tracing your own path. Is in believing in you. And if you want the world to change, then just be the change you want to see in the world. Nothing's stopping you.
 We are what we are because we were born in the middle of a culture, of a society, in the middle of values and beliefs that we do or do not agree with. In the middle of people that will influence our journey, whether we want it or not. They will influence us. Because, in the end of the day, we are human beings, we only are what we are because we interact, cooperate with each other.
 Either way, it's not your beliefs, values, that make you a better person. Your actions are what defines you from being either good or a bad person.
  We are exposed to dogmatic situations where we are forced to choose between just believing or questioning it. Why believing in something that is humanly impossible to prove? (until now) And, on the other hand, you may ask, why not just accepting the facts and be happy? Why would you? Because the less you know the happier you are? It's not suppose to be like that.
 We don't need to hold on to something we are not sure of the existence just to have peace in our minds. Just because it makes us feel safer from the unknown. Yes, we are afraid of the unknown.
 But the more we question, the more we'll learn and pieces of puzzles we'll be brought together, at some point. We'll just figure out the unknown. The answer is probably more simpler than we expect.
 I don't judge you if you believe in some kind of force that's omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent, because, after all, we have no idea how we end up here. I judge you if you decide to ignore your guts, your values and what's important to you because another person coerced you into jumping to some conclusion that will affect your and maybe others conduct.
 So look at the 365 blank pages. Think wisely before you write on them because once you write and turn the page, there's no way you can erase it. The only way out will be ending a chapter and sometimes it's not as easy as it seems.
 Question before you speak.
 Read before you write.
 Think before you explain it.
 Understand before you believe it.

Somos o futuro do nosso país

 O meu pacifismo acabou de terminar. Tiram, tiram, tiram, dizem que o futuro está nas mãos de nós, jovens, dizem que nós podemos marcar a diferença mas só nos dificultam a vida.
 Estudar está cada vez mais caro neste país. Os livros para QUATRO disciplinas custaram à volta de 170€ (se não estou em erro) tiraram-nos horas do horário, o que inicialmente soou bem a todos mas agora temos vindo a aperceber que a quantidade de matéria se manteve, ou seja, tendo esta que ser dada de qualquer maneira, nós, alunos, estamos a ser sobrecarregados com uma quantidade de enorme matéria, por aula, e agora? Esta ''palhaçada" ?
 Exmo. Sr. Ministro da Educação Nuno Crato, nós jovens, o futuro deste país, não temos culpa que alguns membros do Governo tenham cursos tirados "à Relvas", mas esta de certeza que não é uma medida que vá impedir isso.
 Não se trata de não querer estudar, trata-se de só vermos medidas que nos dificultam a vida e nenhuma que nos beneficia.
 Andam a brincar com o futuro dos portugueses, dos JOVENS portugueses. Eu digo ''chega''. Chega de pacifismo, chega de palavras ao vão, passemos à acção.

Um sonho de criança

Em frente ao Parlamento, estão a ser colados no chão dezenas e dezenas de soldadinhos de chumbo e, em pequenas rádios, ouvem-se as vozes de crianças a contarem os seus sonhos.
 Não é com força e violência que os iremos vencer, é com inteligência e emoção! Todos nós temos sonhos e não podemos deixar que ninguém nos tire aquela criança inocente e sonhadora de dentro de nós.

Estamos perante a forma correcta de resolver os problemas.. Que a paz esteja presente em todas as formas de manifestação da nossa revolta para com aquilo que consideramos incorrecto.

A Voz da Verdade e da Razão

 Tenzin Gyatso. Um nome que alguns provavelmente não irão reconhecer até eu dizer que é o décimo quarto e actual Dalai Lama, líder espiritual do Tibete.

 Não poderia ter afirmado algo mais correcto. Se todos líderes religiosos pensassem desta forma, era meio caminho andado para obter a Paz no mundo porque, se pensarmos bem, a maior parte das guerras, da violência no mundo devem-se, infelizmente, às diferentes religiões. Umas são mais tolerantes, outras são intolerantes e não aceitam qualquer crítica e qualquer situação de gozo é um pretexto para gerar uma guerra. Temos como exemplo, mais recente, um vídeo norte-americano, do YouTube, "The innocence of muslims", que gerou violência e mortes e sendo, uma delas, o embaixador americano J. Christopher Stevens. 

 O filme é realmente deveras ofensivo. Há uma diferença entre partilhar a nossa opinião e criar uma situação de gozo. Já todos sabemos que os apoiantes de Maomé são intolerantes e radicais no que toca a ridicularizar a sua religião, portanto, porquê provocar? 

 O vídeo ridiculariza completamente Maomé e retrata os seus apoiantes como agressivos, violentos... 

 Uma religião não é suposto ser algo com verdadeira espiritualidade e moral? Algo com determinados valores? Acho que o que realmente se trata esta afirmação é separar o amor e os bons valores da tirania de uma religião organizada. 

  A compaixão e preocupação pelo outro começou a ser vista como fraqueza, os intolerantes andam a usar a tolerância dos outros como arma. A morte de um embaixador americano é uma razão para se declarar guerra a um país. E o que iria isso resolver? Mais mortes, mais guerras que geram outras guerras. É um ciclo vicioso. Imaginemos, por momentos, que em vez de ser Barack Obama o Presidente, fosse Jorge W. Bush. Como era? Ora, era mais uma guerra, com certeza.

 "(...) find a way of thinking about spirituality and ethics beyond religion altogether", não é nada mais, nada menos do que parar, olhar à nossa volta, ver, testemunhar com os nossos olhos as vidas de pessoas que foram em vão por absolutamente nada e, finalmente, entender que está na altura de ver para além da religião e por os valores humanos à sua frente.

 É por estas e outras que ser-se espiritual e ser-se religioso nunca hão de ser a mesma coisa. 

 Ninguém sabe o que está acima de nós, o que nos criou. Apenas uns temos e acreditamos em certas teorias e outros têm fé. Mas quem criou os nossos valores, fomos nós e mais ninguém.

 Eu respeito qualquer outra religião, cada um é como é, acredita no que acredita e tem os valores que tem. Mas, para mim, Dalai Lama é a voz da verdade e da razão.

Dar voz a um país

Realmente, terei de admitir que apesar da minha revolta sobre determinados assuntos que, na minha opinião, provêm da ignorância, o povo português é deveras especial no sentido em que consegue manifestar-se sem necessitar de recorrer à violência.
E sinceramente, o Sr. Primeiro-Ministro deve-se ter esquecido que nós estamos a pagar pelas asneiras de outros, ele testou a paciência dos portugueses e hoje, 15 de Setembro, foi a prova viva em como a paciência tem limites.
Ao fim de um ano, o Governo foi incapaz de fazer algo para reduzir a despesa pública! Isso, meus amigos, é preocupante.
As promessas feitas em altura de eleições foram em vão! A maior parte de nós elegeu alguém que nos traíu a confiança!
Neste momento, não estamos perante opiniões diferentes, estamos perante algo que é ÓBVIO! Estas novas medidas vão levar a uma diminuição da procura e, por consequência, ao encerramento de empresas e ao desemprego.
Todos nós sabemos as consequências que estas medidas irão trazer, daí hoje, por mais de 40 cidades do país, os portugueses saíram à rua para dar a voz a um país.


 Portugal tem uma história, o presente é a desgraça que estamos a ver, apenas queremos e MERECEMOS um futuro melhor!

11 de Setembro 2001

Há precisamente 11 anos, foram coordenados pela Al-Qeada atentados aos Estados Unidos.
Foram sequestrados quatro aviões, dois dos quais colidiram com as Torres Gemeas do World Trade Center, causando mortes e o caos, outro que caiu sobre o pentágono e um último que caiu na Pensilvânia.
Uma grande tragédia, um grande caos e nenhum sobrevivente desses 4 aviões.
Praticamente 3 mil pessoas perderam a vida.
Penso que todos, por mais novos que fossem, se lembrem do sucedido e sim, mais uma vez venho expressar a minha imensa revolta e, mais uma vez, em relação à ignorância de muitos.
Gostava de entender como é que uma situação destas onde, repito, 3 mil pessoas perderam a vida consegue ser alvo de "gozo" e entretenimento para alguns. Sim, precisamente, leram bem.
É com muita vergonha que vos informo que tenho encontrado pelas redes sociais montagens que me deixaram completamente, desculpem o termo, aparvalhada. Ainda agora, na tão conhecida e usada rede social do Facebook, deparei-me com uma montagem das Torres Gémeas a serem destruídas... pelo Angry Birds.
A sério, gente? 3 mil pessoas foram em vão, estimadamente de 70 países diferentes e, por acaso, como não era nenhum vosso conhecido já pode ser alvo de piadas?
O bom Tuga adora rir da desgraçada dos outros. Mas penso que estas imagens, montagens, com que me deparei sejam um golpe demasiado baixo.
Acordem, temos de ser o melhor uns para os outros porque o passado não podemos mudar, o futuro não prevemos e não sabemos quando iremos precisar de um ombro amigo.

Este dia merece ser relembrado em nome de todos os inocentes cuja vida foi tirada e seus respectivos familiares e amigos.
Que tenham paz e que nunca mais teremos de testemunhar uma tragédia assim.
